Canadian "a "

          It is interesting how the only way a culture is able to truly recognize its particular costumes is when another person not belonging to that same culture highlights them.  A perfect example of this happening is seen in Canada; more specifically when they talk the English language. The Canadians tend to use the word a in between sentences, which is best known as the Canadian a. Some Canadians say they do it to make sure the other person is paying attention. However, others argue that they due it automatically and in some cases they hardly notice it. This nevertheless is not only seen in Canadian English. On the contrary we also see it happening in the United States. However, American's instead of using the Canadian a in between sentences they use the word ja. These are all marks that allow us to see how the English language is spoken differently depending on the region it`s in.

          On the other hand, even though in distinct places the English language is spoken differently the reason that any kind of English is understandable by all is because throughout the years different kinds of dictionaries have been created in order to establish both a spelling convention and help improve the idiomatic pronunciation. Making the communication between regions more efficient.

Judging

               History is our only connection to the past and throughout time it has helped us understand how the world became to be what it is today. It taught us all about slavery in the United States, how your place in society was measured by the color of your skin and nothing else. However, this discrimination continued long after the fight for equality. Still today we are able to witnessed racism in some regions of the world. Nevertheless, it is important to mention that racism is not the only form of discrimination known to men.  Back then people began to measure a person's class judging by their accent. Forcing Black schools to teach proper white English to all of the children in order for them to have more job opportunists, as they grew older.

            On the other hand it is very interesting how white families would allow there daughter to grow up speaking exactly like black woman. Even though they interpreted this as being form an inferior class. Which leads me to question how somebodies importance in society could be measure judging by how they spoke? It is vital to end with all of this madness once in for all. Because the way you speak doesn't identify who you are or what you are good for. We say we live in a fair world, but do we really?

Power

-->
-->
The English language has the power to communicate and express both ideas and believes. However, this language has been used in different ways throughout centuries. And it is due to this that the English language has become “…everyone’s second  language…”   (The Story of English ) In the case of the Hindu culture we see the English language being used not so much as a form of communication, but rather as a symbol of knowledge and education. This language is given the power to declare social standing to those who speak it. And it is known that when man go out in search of a wife, they prefer one who speaks English because it not only indicates that she is educated but man also tend to see her more as an equal.

         On the other hand as we move to another continent we notice how in Africa the use of the English language changes completely. It is well known that Africa has a variety of different languages spread all cross the continent. However, it is due to the English language that Africa has found a way to communicate within the different regions of the continent.  In a particular case of a mine company “.. the workers have … six different languages … and talk … English to each other.” (The Story of English ) It is due to this that trade between regions is now possible, as well as the creation of new businesses bringing hope for a prosperous Africa.

         It is breathtaking how a simple language can have such an effect and influence on daily life. And how throughout time it's important has substantially grown, and today “… English is taught as number one foreign language in the education systems of … every country on earth…” The English language has encountered no limits.

Printing Disaster

    One of the beauties of the English language is that it allows you to  express yourself in a detailed manner. It's vivid vocabulary and complex structure gives writers the opportunity to describe even their most intimate sensations. This however, wasn't always the case it was only after the invasion of the Normans that the English vocabulary grew substantially; a total of “10,000 words” (The Story of English )were added to the language.

         Nevertheless, these new words brought some complications to the language. This was mainly because at that time no restrictions had been made regarding word spelling and as the printing press was created different publishers, almost all “idiosyncratic speller (The Story of English) would write words with different spelling. Leading to the creation of "...chaotic spelling conventions..."(The Story of English) However, at that time this wasn't the only problem the English language was facing. The other problem described how there were "...five distinct varieties of English..."  (The Story of English) roaming around the earth and even though they all rose from the same basis, they were all distinctly different. Making this a problem in daily life communication between citizens. Affecting not only relationships but development as well. This is the reason why the English language has had so many changes throughout time and it has finally ended up with the creation of a more practical and worldwide comprehensible language.

Don Juan Must Die

         As part of the theater group in my school I got the opportunity to play a loving mother in CNG`s interpretation of Don Juan. This play talks about how a single man had the ability to seduce numerous women and make them fall in love with him.  My character, unfortunately was one of them, she believed Don Juan to be a respectable and honorable man. One the other hand through out the play Don Juan’s true colors flourish and we are able to see how he only cared about his own desire’s and didn’t worry who he hurt in the process.

        In the movie JohnTucker Must Die, we are able to see how the main character a womanizer, thought he could get away with having three different girlfriends. However, what is truly remarkable was how his personally completely resembled that one of Don Juan. Even though this story didn’t end with the character being carried to hell, the three women did make sure he paid for his sins.
